Club Membership
Anyone is able to become a TRUSU Social Dance general member and access the benefits of membership. We have 2 different types of membership, TRU Student membership, and General membership. Alongside various benefits, Members also have voting rights in important club decisions during General Annual Meetings and Special Meetings.
Membership Fees
TRU Students – Free
General Public – $125
Benefits
- Free classes
- Free entrance to TRUSU Social Dance Club social dances
- Discounts on social dances with a ticket cost, or events planned in collaboration with other organizations.
- Discounts on workshops and special events
- Access to early bird pricing when applicable
For Students Only – Eligibility to run for leadership positions within the club during elections.
Responsibilities
- Adherence to the club’s code of conduct and ethical standards.
- Respect for other members, instructors, and guests.
- Fulfillment of any responsibilities or tasks taken on as part of club activities. (e.g. showing up because you volunteered for set up)
- Timely payment of membership fees (if applicable) and event fees, if any.
Enrollment
To enroll as a member head to our Qpay and Register. If you have registered before our transition to QPay, don’t worry all you have to do is create an account, and your membership should be loaded directly to your account.
Committee Member
Committee Members are TRUSU Social Dance members who volunteer to take on club positions leading and organizing everything the club does and helping mentor a dance community here at TRU. Committee members must be general members in good standing, TRUSU members, and active TRU Students. Committee members are either voted in or appointed once a year for year-long terms. These volunteer positions include two types of Committee Members:
General Committee Members
- Secretary
- Events Coordinator
- Public Relations Coordinator
- Membership and Volunteer Coordinator
- Dance Style Coordinators (e.g. Swing Dance Coordinator)
- Technical Director
Leadership Committee Members
- President
- Vice President
- Treasurer
These roles are currently being filled by appointment in a process that looks at individuals based on merit or experience. So if you are interested in joining the TRUSU Social Dance Club Committee please fill out the form and we will reach out as soon as possible. This is dependent on the number of applications for the role you wish to fill.

Well, other than being fun, and supporting dance on campus it’s also a great way to take part in projects that give you a wide range of experiences, as well as having benefits for any paid events put on by TRUSU Social Dance Club. Taking on a Committee Member position is a great way to bolster your resume and learn new things, all while making new connections, having new experiences, and creating a community.
